ABOUT

BELIEF #1

Motherhood is one of the most beautiful, stretching, and important roles we step into—and no one talks enough about how to actually live it well. I'm on a mission to change that.

BELIEF #2

Inviting God into your marriage and motherhood is hands down one of the best ways to find more peace. There is no mom hack that can give you the kind of peace that comes from knowing and pursuing Jesus.

BELIEF #3

Motherhood is easier when everyone gets solid sleep.

I'M CHELSEA

I'm the wife, mama, author, and pediatric sleep consultant behind The First Time Mama. I’m on a mission to create the binge-worthy library of resources I wish I had as a new mom entering motherhood.

Becoming a mother has been one of the sweetest things. It feels like just yesterday that I was pregnant, awake in the middle of the night, rage Googling all the new things that come with having a baby. I had a thousand questions. And as the oldest child and first grandchild in my family, it’s not like I had a whole bunch of people having babies around me either.

Thankfully, I have two best friends who are just a few steps ahead of me. So I asked them alllllll the unfiltered questions. I’m talking...

Why do I need adult diapers postpartum? Oh, and how many do I need?

What’s it actually like to breastfeed? And who do you even go to for help with that?

So what postpartum items so I really need? Can you describe with detail how to use them?

What do I actually need to add to my baby registry?

Do you like your stroller? Like, really like it? Buy it again, like it?

I turned my ever-growing list of Googled and asked questions into a community where new moms can have moms just a few steps ahead to bounce all their questions off of.

Because that’s what I needed.

The First Time Mama is exactly what I was searching for as a first-time mom.

THE HEART BEHIND IT ALL

I started The First Time Mama as a blog.

I wrote candid, unfiltered blogs about my experiences in motherhood and the things I was searching for on the internet when I was pregnant. You know, the things no one really explains? Like how to actually use all those postpartum items everyone tells you to buy before you give birth for the first time.

Over time, I built a library of articles about what you actually need on your registry (no fluff), helpful rhythms for motherhood, and all the little things I found that could genuinely make motherhood feel easier.

I even wrote an entire series about the things I believed could help you truly thrive in motherhood. Inviting God into your everyday life. Prioritizing your new family and your marriage. Creating simple habits that make showing up for motherhood a little easier.

But eventually, I realized I was missing a really important piece.

Sleep.

Let's just be honest. Without it, it is really hard to show up as your best self every day.

After lots of prayer, I decided to do something I said I would never do: go back to school. I became a certified pediatric sleep consultant because so many moms needed help, and I wanted to be in a position to actually help them.

I had the privilege of experiencing solid sleep with my son from the beginning, and I saw firsthand how much lighter motherhood could feel when our family was getting the sleep we needed.

And I knew I wanted other moms to have the opportunity to experience that, too.

And that is where Set Up for Solid Sleep was born. My mom has always said, “Set them up for success,” and I’ve carried that little phrase with me for years. I believe motherhood works the same way. We can’t control every stage, every phase, or every hard day, but we can prepare for what’s ahead and give ourselves and our babies a solid foundation to build on.

I created Set Up for Solid Sleep to do exactly that: help first-time moms understand their baby’s sleep from the beginning, know what to expect as they grow, and feel confident navigating each new stage instead of constantly wondering, “Am I doing this right?”

Because motherhood will always have hard days. There will always be things you didn’t see coming, questions you didn’t know you would have, and moments when you feel like you’re figuring it out as you go.

But you don’t have to figure it all out alone.

That’s the heart behind The First Time Mama.

I’m here to share the things I wish I had known, the things that have made motherhood easier for me, and the resources I wish I had as a first-time mom.

So whether you’re preparing for your first baby, in the thick of those newborn days, or somewhere in the middle of your motherhood journey, I hope you find something here that makes you feel a little more prepared, a little more confident, and a whole lot less alone.

Welcome to The First Time Mama, Mama. I’m so glad you’re here.

Love you already,

Chelsea
